When eating a ketogenic diet, carbohydrate intake is significantly reduced. Many investigations have connected the consumption of increasing amounts of carbohydrates with the development of many disorders, such as insulin resistance and diabetes and anxiety. The research suggests that the therapeutic efficacy of ketogenic diets against tumour growth can be improved when combined with some medications and procedures under the Pulse Press model. It is good to keep in mind that ketogenic diets push cancer cells to remission. That means that ketogenic diets starve cancer to relieve symptoms.

Ketone bodies like beta-hydroxybutyrate lower the body’s blood glucose level needs. Since muscle is broken down to make glucose via gluconeogenesis (Source), needing less glucose means less gluconeogenesis. Using ketogenic food helps keep your muscles burning while your body burns fat. 

Diabetes

In general, it is accepted that excessive and refined carbohydrate intake is the leading cause of Type 2 Diabetes. Thus, by reducing the number of carbohydrates that are ingested with a ketogenic diet, there is a higher chance of improving one’s HbA1c (Source). Also, the combination of the Ketogenic diet and other diabetes treatment plans can significantly enhance its overall effectiveness.

Gluten allergy

Many people with gluten intolerance are not diagnosed with this condition. However, following a ketogenic diet showed an improvement in the related symptoms, such as gastrointestinal irritation and abdominal distension. Most foods rich in carbs tend to be high in gluten in a Western diet. Thus, when using a ketogenic diet, much of the gluten consumption is minimized due to the elimination of a large variety of carbohydrates.

Weight loss

It is one of the most common weight loss trends today and is proving to be very popular among the wellness community. Nutritional ketosis has become an integral part of many health plans because of its recognized application to help lose weight.

Conclusion

A diet low in carbohydrates helps reduce appetite and the desire to eat high-calorie foods. When you start eating healthy, satisfying and high-fat foods, your feelings of hunger will begin to diminish naturally. Although there is never a ‘one size fits all’ diet, nutritional ketosis is a growing field of research and is something I might be tempted to try.
